Our Cookie Journey

Well Hello There! We’re Rupert and Janel, the duo behind Chunk-A-Dunk Cookies. We believe life is sweeter when shared, and we’re here to serve up some joy—one delicious cookie at a time.

Let’s start with Janel, the brains behind the vision. Janel’s journey is one of love, resilience, and a deep belief in the importance of life’s small, meaningful moments. As the first woman in her family to earn a PhD, Janel’s always been driven to break barriers. But the real inspiration for everything we do comes from her mom, a heart transplant survivor. Janel learned from her mom that the best things in life aren’t always big milestones—they’re the moments shared with family, gathered around the table, savoring a meal, and connecting with the ones you love. After losing her mom on Christmas Day about 10 years ago, those shared moments became even more precious, and Janel realized that food has a unique ability to bring us all together.

Janel’s love for family, service, and creating meaningful moments inspired her to start Chunk-A-Dunk Cookies. It’s more than just a cookie company—it’s a celebration of life, love, and the joy that comes from something as simple as sharing a cookie with someone special.

And then there’s Rupert. After immigrating to the U.S. and facing the heartbreaking loss of both of his parents before he turned 21, Rupert had to find his own way. From earning his graduate degrees to becoming an entrepreneur, Rupert learned that even the toughest times can lead to something beautiful. He’s the one who comes up with the fun, creative cookie ideas in the kitchen—always eager to experiment with new flavors, try something wild, and, yes, sometimes fail spectacularly. But that’s part of the fun! (And when things go wrong, we just call it “testing” and try again).

Together, we’ve learned the power of collaboration—not just in the kitchen, but in life. We’re a happily married couple who bakes together, and while that doesn’t always lead to perfection (trust us, there have been some memorable kitchen mishaps), it’s taught us how to work together, laugh at ourselves, and make something beautiful out of what we have. The synergy between us, Rupert’s creative flair, and Janel’s vision for the brand is what makes Chunk-A-Dunk Cookies truly special.

At Chunk-A-Dunk, we don’t just bake cookies—we create experiences. We’re committed to using the best ingredients, like farm-raised, free-range, cage-free eggs, locally sourced, high-quality flour, and homemade vanilla. Every cookie we bake is made with love, care, and the belief that life is meant to be savored—whether it’s dunked in milk, hot drinks, sweet creamy dips, or enjoyed straight out of the box.

Here’s the thing: life doesn’t have to be all heavy. It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle, the worry, and the “what’s next,” but sometimes, it’s about stopping, enjoying the treat in front of you, and celebrating the sweet moments. Because life is a gift—and every bite of our cookies is a reason to smile.
